alexcjacko 1
just wondering if anyone could give me a few tips , well a friend of mine rescued a ferret off of someone who wasnt looking after it i.e. didnt feed it ,house it properly or handle it. anyway my friend has found that he hasnt the time for the polecat coloured hob anymore and seeing as i work ferrets he asked me if i would have it, hutch ,ferret and other stuff for nothing ,cant turn it down really and hopefully he can be working this season, thanks for reading this Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
Just treat it like your other ferrets, I rescued a hob and jill two years ago from an old boy, the jill was one of the most rampant biters I have ever handled, cost a fortune in plasters, now I would'nt be with out her, there's a pic of her in my gallery, pic number is DSCF3840[1].jpg. The hob I kept to have snipped, twice Quote Link to post
alexcjacko 1
thanks bud, i didnt want it to have its last memory the inside of a water butt or something like that so i will give him a chance in life Quote Link to post

the ratcatcher 1
i rescued an old jill ive worked her for the past four years and now have retired her as she was slowing down last season and wasnt clearing the runs as she used to so now she will just live out her life but in her day was one cracking little worker and didnt leave the holes till they was empty but even though retired she still gets treated just like the others and as a treat ill find her the odd small warren oh and she was deadly on the rats Quote Link to post
alexcjacko 1
nice to hear that rescues csn turn out into good workers, the lad im having him off said they had rats on there yard so they took him up and he dived into the with no fear, so couldnt say no really he's coming today so i'll tell you how he actually is Quote Link to post
alexcjacko 1
right the polecat hob came at 8 lastnight, and i must admit i waited for him to turn round to grab him well anyone would if they heard the stories about him anyway ive spent most of the day with him and washed him and he'snot bad at all i dont know where the stories came from, he's not a huge thing either so should make a good worker Quote Link to post

lurcher lass 9
i bought a hob and jill i shouldn't have really, but it was purely out of sympathy, the hob was the tamest ferret i've ever seen, loved my daughter and was very sound the jill was a begger to bite, once settled in she calmed it down to biting every now and again but when she did you were reminded where she came from!! lol just give time, good food, treat like the others with some extra one to one time, handle little and often after a good feed, make sure they know good food comes from you! and i wish you all the best x Quote Link to post
alexcjacko 1
thanks lurcher lass for the advice, this ferret is as tame as my others, god knows why everyone backed off when his hutch was opened up lol i just picked him straight up and they was all gob smacked, so the next day i spent it with himm and let him play with the other two and they all get along, but when theyre in his hutch he pulls them into the sleeping area???
