Casso 1,261
What do you think separates a good dog from a great one , given that they have both done the same amount of work , both have good owners, and get the same amount of exercise, one will always have the edge on the other,,What do you think it is , pace, heart , agility, stamina,,used to hunt with mostly terrier blooded dogs with plenty of heart, but have come round to thinking that , there are some breeds of lurcher out there, who are just naturally more flexible and agile and make the job look so much easier than others,,, any thoughts most welcome,, Quote Link to post

Hannah4181 260
I think sometimes you come across a dog that you just connect with . . . . my bitch, although not a lurcher, is that dog for me. She is as close to human as its possible for a dog to be, will work her guts out for me in whatever i ask of her, and seems to just know what is expected . . don't ask me how, but she does. The times that dog has made me the proudest person ever, i've lost count. To someone else she would just be a mutt, heart and an unquestionable loyalty set her apart in my eyes. Quote Link to post
lord of the fens 23
Heart every time. Some dogs are too clever, like the collie... Can start to chose its runs etc. Some dogs are thick like the saluki, just can't change their running style to suit... But both have there qualities as do other breeds but for me the most important quality is heart.... If a dog doesn't have the heart for the job, don't matter how fit it is or how much ability it possess, it's a dud..... bit like Anelka as a footballer, all the ability in the world.... no f****n heart!!! 1 Quote Link to post
