Ryeuken 7 Posted September 30, 2010 Report Share Posted September 30, 2010 i have an eight year old collie greyhound my first choice to bring when i go lamping he starting to slow down a bit but he is still catching plenty of game i think i will still get 2 or 3 more seasons from him and then a few more ferreting and bushing with the terriers but i'd like to know the average age most people will stop lamping and coursing their lurchers i reckon he would die younger if i stoped working him for me mate id keep him running untill he was under performing to his usual self..look at ricky hatton alot of people said he shouldnt fight again he did and he lost now hes tarnished with failure even though he never lost before..! get some pups from him and let him enjoy his retirement regards ryeuken Quote Link to post
RossM 8,149 Posted October 1, 2010 Report Share Posted October 1, 2010 my mate had his out at 12, it put up a hare preban daytime, and on the straight i thought "hes gonna get this" then it spun on a penny when the dog was up its arse, the dog turned.........like a boat, the speed was still there but the sharpness wasnt, was still good for mooching, when he couldnt jump anymore at 14 he retired him and he lived by the fire till he was 18, Quote Link to post
