Yep, my salukix had them removed at birth. My collie x still had his till a cpl of months ago, then had to have them removed as he kept catching them and they gave him pain.... A guy on here then came along when i said i was having them removed, and said...... "a proper dog man wouldnt have dew claws on an animal" :wallbash::wallbash: so all us who do have dew claws mustnt be real dog men!! lol,,.....

some dew claws are attached and some are loose mate, your must have been loose, so they easily came off....

thats unusual as if ya cut a dogs nail 2 far he will squeel but your dog ripped his full toe off and never made a sound not saying your lying put cven when at 4 days old they are removed properly (even by a vet ) the dogs squeel atb

Some are attached and some arent... If they are attached by a piece of(i dont know what it is) grizle, they have to go under and have the full op. If they are not attached and loose, the op is far easier and can be done with a local...

I have two dogs both with dew claws. Both dogs have snapped them off at the quick, there is a bit of blood and it looks nasty but after a good clean I have either cut the rest off or taped them up for a week or so until grown back enough to trim. No lasting damage.
