hi, im thinking about geting a long net for ferreting how much are they about? and are they hard 2 use?

youll see how to use them on the dvd when you get it mate think i paid 30 for my 50yd but there wasnt enough bagging so its about 35yds now. and i paid 50 for my other 75yd both in 6z. i started out with a 4z again the rabbits were coming out of it too easily so i shortend it.

if he's offering you a net dont buy it, there'll be big holes in it :11: joking aside, i bought my 75yd net off ryan and its the only one that didnt need shortening. top fella and the net arrived quickly

you got it cheap cos of the holes

sorry to hijack the thread but ive never used a long net.i take it there ideal for an area thats riddled with burrys/holes that would be a nightmare to net individualy?

they certainly are bullsmilk.... good for netting around gorse patches, open warrens, banks, and even hedgerow's.

im thinking of making a 25yrd long net with 100% bagging next year for rabbits.what do you think is best 6oz , 8oz, 10oz, 12oz.also what mesh size would you recomend.2inch or 2.1/8 inch mesh.also has anyone got any pics of the split rings you use for tieing on to when making a long net.

for rabbits, use 4z or 6z. i suppose you would use the heavier sizes, but to be honest its not neccesary.

 

i would personally use a 4 1/4" mesh (2 1/8" knot to knot)

 

are you thinking of using it for nighttime work? as in my limited experience, a 25yard net at night is of little use. i would go with 75 yard nets for night time work. they are a nice size to handle as i find the 100yard nets quite a strain on your wrists when picking up.
