Awright guys,went up to the farm early doors this morning as I couldnt sleep.Checked my zero at 30 yds using accupels,spot on.I need to try and make sure I do this at all times from now on as I sat in my hide the other day for over an hour having what I thought were great shots at various crows only to discover that the new powapells I was trying out were not loading in to the s16 breech,mag was cycling but not loading somehow. Anyway won't be using them again in the near future, Don't know if I maybe lubed them too much,I watched Zini's vid on how he cleans + lubes his pellets and gave it a go myself,overdone the powerlube possibly.But my trusty accupels keep me right.Put out a couple o flock crow decoys in front of cowpen and barn to entice some sky rats in.

Set up a pallet against a trailer then covered the front with some foliage then put my new camo net over pallet and trailer then quielty slipped in side.All this is new too me,but am starting to like it,.After 10 mins a lone jackdaw landed on the barn roof opposite me and within 5 secs ,a bit of breathing control and a flying chunk of lead right in the head the bird was dead before it knew what hit it.Result, I'm getting a bit better at this shooting malarky. .A good deal satiisfying knowing your pellet lands exaclty where you want it to.

Waited a further 10 mins for some more crows to land on roof or floor,used my crow call to tempt them in,but all I heard was the swish of birds overhead then seen a huge flock of crows circling right above me then diving past barn,but none landed.MMmmmm ,unusual, they tend to land in great numbers on roof.I was hoping they weren't plotting to dive bomb me ,as its quite creepy when they are overhead like that. They settled a bit away from me then started feeding on the ground slowly wandering into my range,when a pair of magpies stupidly interrupted the crows feeding and were promply chased to within 35-40 yds.I had 1 in my sight and using a bit of new found knowledge of my gun and my capability I held over slightly the maggies heed.I took the shot and black and white nest robber collapsed without a Flap of wings or twitch.To say I was pleased is an understement as this was probaly my best ever shot.Right in the middle of its nut.Its pal then went to investigate and i quickly reloaded before the damn bird flew straight toward me and land not 2 yds away from me on the trailer ,so obviously my camo works lol.Then just as I was getting ready to give it a glasgow kiss instead of shooting it as it was that close lol,it looked straight into my eyes and realised something wasn't quite right +buggered off.. I then went to retrieve its pal and put a large kebab skwer through its arse ,and put it between my crow deeks.

This is when I discovered why no crows landed on barn roof,As the body of the 1st shot bird was still there,ah ,thats a lesson learned,need to learn to shoot them right of the roof!!

Just time for 1 more jackdaw before heading home to go to work. After giving them time to forget there was a crow assasin on the loose they landed for a feed.I got this last bird under the wing,through the chest.

Disposed of all bodies and left quitye happy.

Nice write up that King buddy

 

Im pleased for you that you made your best shot to date and that it was a hold over shot.

 

Should really give you more confidence the next time that you need to do it again buddy knowing that it works.
