mjr88 50
Hi all i am thinking of adding a semi auto to my gun collection but have no experience with them at all. I have used my mates Bennelli m2 12 g and found it very accurate and a pleasure to use , In fact,i hit a lot more with it than i do with my own Lanber o/u As usual money is tight and i can't really afford to buy a new Bennelli and was wondering if you guys could suggest some others. After looking on the net i have found a couple of cheaper options , as i would prefer to buy new this time , but as i've already stated , i know nothing about semi auto's. These are as follows : Winchester SX3 , Baikal MP - 153 and the cheapest of all , the Hatsan Escort 12g. Any adivice will be greatly appreciated John Quote Link to post
jackinbox99 41
Ive a lanber o/u and also a beretta a391 semi. I love the semi, so easy to get on target. Quick and easy. You can pick them up now 2nd hand for 600quid. Cycles everything from 21g upwards. Only had about 2 jams in 6->8 years of ownership. Holds its value too. I clean my properly once a year and it still performs faultless. Ive lost count of the cartridges ive put through it. In the peak season i put through 400 a week, easily with no problems at all. Semi`s do have a stigma attached to them at some places you will shoot, but where I go they are more interested in that you know gun safety rather than what you shoot. The Hatson Escort is a cheap alternative, you can seach on here to see what people think. Its a bit like marmite. Some love em, others hate them. Ive never tried one personally so cant comment. All in all, I think semis are brilliant. I shoot side by side, pump, over / under and a semi, and if i was to grab a gun out of the cabinet for ANYTHING, it would be the semi, jack of all trades.
