Another 2 foxes sent to the big chicken farm in the sky!

Headed down to the chicken farm to have a look out for a couple foxes that I knew were still about. It was one of those nights when I was in a dilema whether to pick a spot and sit it out with the NV or do I just drive about and lamp. In the end I decided to have a drive about but saw nothing around the first half a dozen sheds. I then went along to another part of the farm which has two sheds that has a short field inbetween them which has just had the silage cut so I was hoping that I may get a fox mooching about in the field.

 

I scanned the field and the nearest shed with the NV and saw nothing so I started to do a few calls to see if that would entice any nearby foxes to come and have a look. After a few minutes scanning the area intermimittently and then calling I finally saw a set of eyes appear up on the embankment about 150 yards away and it just sat there looking about, I thought I would just leave it a minute to see if it was going to come any closer when another set of eyes appeared also. I decided I would go for the second fox first as it was slightly closer about 120 yards away, down it went stone dead, the bullet hit its right shoulder and exited through the abdomen. When I scanned for the second fox it had done a bunk but trusting my instinct I stayed put and resisted the temptaion to go and pick up the fox I had just shot and sat tight for a couple of minutes then tried doing a couple of calls and then scanned the embankment and saw the second fox coming down off the embankment towards me, I let it come throught some rough into the cut field and at yards took aim on its chest and again let rip with the 22-250 and down it went stone dead.
