dai dog 11
ive just finished reading "working terriers b & b digging by h.h. king" its a good read and an insight to how the men of old used to do things! in the book he emphasises on how important in is to have youre dogs brocken to all stock, including ferrets which they work along side when ratting! he refers to a time when he was ratting & he could see the tail of his ferret in the hole, & it was obvious to him that the ferret had hold of a rat & was trying to pull it out! his terrier could see this & gently pulled the ferret out by the tail without harm & in turn killed the rat! could a terrier be this calm when the "heat is on" & have you guys seen extrordinary things with youre own dogs? this applies to all working dogs! ill look forward to hearing youre replies, rhys. Guest Jane Russell
Not sure if this quite counts but ... two lurchers out chasing a rabbit . The bigger bitch jumps the ditch but the smaller one miss-times her jump, or maybe it was just too big a ditch for her, anyway, the smaller bitch lands on top of a bit of thorn bush. It's not a huge bush but she can't get her feet to the ground and risks doing damage to her abdomen on the thorns. The bigger bitch stops the chase and comes back to the ditch which she leaps into. She then gets as close to her hunting partner as possible and nudges at her. The small bitch climbs onto the back on the big bitch and is rescued without a scratch. Jane Quote Link to post
