Shaunm41 14
Hi guys, There is a small field by my house that I drive past regularly and there always seems to be rabbits on there. Its just off a country lane, with a house directly opposite, not sure it this is the land owners house or not. I was wondering whats the best way to ask about the possibility of clearing their rabbits? Could I put a note on the gate for att. of the land owner? if so what should It say? I have no idea who they are, they may like rabbits for all I know.. Thanks Shaun Quote Link to post
hunter1989 91
hi shaun well the first thing is make sure you have shooting permission slips on you,you can get them from the internet if you want a link i will give you, when you knock on there door say who you are and that is there any chance i could do some vermin shooting on your land please, then they will say yes or no,but be prepared not trying to get you worried but ive been round loads of farms and have had farmers slamed doors in my face, swear at me,followed me of there land even one guy rang the poolice on me,but anyway your never no till you ask good luck Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
Get your self up to the house and ask about the land, the folk at the house may not own the land, and if they're keen gardeners, you can bet your last quid they dont like rabbits Quote Link to post
venomviper 129
hi ya buddy make sure you have insurance and that if you check the land out first before going on to the land that way you can help the farmer by pointing out the worried areas plus make sure you get use to the land to you dont want any runners and the farmer finding them bleeding to death plus dress to impress a little if you turn up in camo you will give him heart attack lol and drop in and say to him while your on the land its security for him as well and if any damage to any of the fences you can report it to him or fix it take a picture on a good camera and show him the damage then tell him you have have fixed it and put it right again as there were sheep / cows / in the field always think of your self as a free farm hand and let him know that to your doing his pest control and cleaning up and fixing things for him i hope this helps matey plus i have pm'd you as well as i can send you a permission slip as well matey shay 1 Quote Link to post

Nathan_R 10
Hi Shaun, I would be a little bit reluctant to point out problem areas to the farmer when you approach them actually - farmers will walk their fields every week and they will know where the problems are. Telling them how to do their job may end up having the opposite reaction to what you are hoping to achieve. I would actually be inclined to go the opposite way and say you're interested in shooting rabbits and ask him if he has many and where the worst areas are. We get a handful of people coming along asking us for permission to shoot/hunt on our farm each year and it can be quite patronising to be told we have a rabbit problem but not to worry because Super Man is here to sort it out for us!! Just a thought though. Good luck with finding new permission, Nathan Quote Link to post
