J Darcy 5,871
£9000 Seems a bit of a money making scheme to me... Quote Link to post
wireviz 8
Do you really think so John its 26000 acres now most forestry goes for £2 an acre any way the lease is a done deal BASC already have it.Its only up on the net for show Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
Ah......I see. Might be 26000 acres, but it's only for 70 deer pa! That works out at a fairly costly £130 a head, before any costs for fuel, transport etc. You'd need to be selling the stalking at a strong price to make any money out of it! It can't be a done deal, the government aren't allowed to work like that. If someone came and offered more money, provided they could show the capability, then the FCS would have to award them the contract! Quote Link to post
wireviz 8
Its a done deal and please do not tell me Government don't work like that. BASC have the ground they didn't even get there culls when they had it last time failing every year if any one else did that badly they would loose there lease. Have a look at the criteria it was suggest that all leases would be done the same this one was written buy a commission officer for one purpose only that was to give it to BASC and still look as if it is open to all. PS THEY WILL ONLY PAY 5000 for it. Edited July 10, 2010 by wireviz Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,936
Looks like a typical FC ripoff as far as I can tell. 9k +vat for 70 head. Nah! dinnae think so This is the reason that stalking is outside the remit of the average working bloke nowadays. After calling a few places and offering help with the cull(which they had to get done) in order to further my experience , I gave up after repeated requests for 250 quid a stalk !! for hinds, carcass to the estate etc. I would love to further my stalking but not at the current prices. If you have your own stalking then count yourself very lucky and keep a good hold of it. Quote Link to post
