Guest Frank
My lamping partner, rang, to tell me, the best way he could, after him downing several pints of the black stuff, that he could not make it. :11: He apparently, forgot to tell me it was his works early Xmas party. Anyhow, no matter i thought, got me gear together and went over to my farther in laws feild, to test the Light Force scope mounted lamp and check zero, all spot on. :thumbs-up: I was in a different spot tonight, on a peacock keepers place and some of his other birds were golden pheasents, lovely birds i thought, 1 or 2 went missing to foxes, so i was called in. Set up and called, using the back of me hand, no bait tonight, did not get time to get it together. Lamp on and their a fox stood, about odd yds away, he ran back and hid a wee bit in some thistles, but not hidden enough , down he went. Got him and sat back down, waited for things to settle and then started calling again, lamp back on and fox number 2, just short of 100 yds, sat watching, sniffing the ground around him, down he went. :thumbs-up: I was getting cold at this stage, so went back to the Peacock mans house and had a hot bowl of soup and chat. He said their is more foxes on the otherside of his land and offerd to drive me down in his Toyota hilux, nice aswell. We drove about, then i picked out eyes, bins out and yes, a fox Safe background, ranged it, 187 yds, down she went, fox number 3. Started to drive back, when my freind, spoted another, he was in some tall grass and i could just see top part of his chest and full head, the fox went down at the shot, lovely. Went into pick it up and could not find it and nearly got lost in the tall grass , so will search this morning, where i will see better. Pic below of my nights pest control and the peacock man, is happy for now. We spoted 12 foxes altogether , could not shoot all, for safety reasons. Their is a good few about alright this season. Hows the fox population over their in the UK this season fellas? Thanks, Frank. Quote Link to post

Guest Frank
Thanks FOXHUNTER. This year, seems to be exceptional and a good few around, last year was a wee bit slow, but after i shot so many last year, i thought it would be bad this year, seems not. Amazing animal the fox. Well, i just went and got my fox , i must of nearly walked over her last night :11: Another vixen, so thats 3 vixens and a dog fox, the peacock keeper, was chuffed to bits, but i will be back. Pic of her below, she is at the bottom of the pic, the others are at the top, allways better pics in the daylight. Frank. Quote Link to post

Some parts of this country, have too many shooters aswell, which can make fox control, a nightmare at times. I got called out once, several miles away, only to find, that the famer and his son, was taking pot shots at them with their .22 magnum and missing them on the lamp I could not even see them for a second, they were gone as soon as the lamp hit them. I tried, red, amber, blue, all the colours of the rainbow filters and never as so much, got a result. Ended up having to snare them, which took a week or so. So far this season, most of the foxes seem shootable and not lamp shy, but, once the drive by pratts, start driving around country roads and shooting willy nilly at them with shotguns and missing, my work will be harder. David, thanks. I try and keep on top of them, if i can get time ect, hope you strike it lucky soon yourself. Good luck, Frank. Quote Link to post
