SalukiX's more likely to get lost?

I've read I don't know how many posts about dogs going missing while after quarry while out on the lamp; some are found that same night, or the next morning in the same area, or miles away, or never found. What are your opinions on SalukiX's being more likely to disappear than other running dogs in similar situations?

never lost one yet ,infact my high pwerd colie types would go to the next county on some game , saluks would go so far and once out the lamp back to me ,yet to lose a dog lamping ,in the daylite on some land ive not lost them but thye had killed and were lying in a puddle coolin down and had to go and find them , worst nits for losing dogs is when its windy and if there game in every fiels as they can run on some nites if there a bit moon but never lost them as there out young and no how to get back to were they started

same as whin , my saluki may have a good run and kill , having walked up to her shes cooling down sat beside her kill , usually shes spot on on the retreive . but this particular time it was ran over a fair distance and few feilds , lazy cow wudnt have brought it that far . thought we had lost her , but sure enough was just laid waiting .

 

plenty saluki crosses getting STOLEN though , never mind going missing whilst at graft .

I cant imagine any circumstances where you would lose a dog lamping, if trained , If someone did lose one i would put it down to bad training by the owner and not try to blame the breed of dog,,

I agree, unless something scared the dog sh*tless and it ran in terror I dont know what but i suppose it,s possable then breed wouldn,t be the issue I know a few dog men that own saluki xs that are a pain in the ass and take an age to catch up after a run .The same reason is always given its the saluki in em it makes them head strong .The reason I think is lack of bonding training socialising and being shut away for 20 hours a day.I have the same xs never had a problem but aparently I,v just been lucky and yes I,m being sarcastic to those who will remain nameless.

WEll said: Saluki types especially need to have a strong bond with their owner, and that bond ain't made overnight or by giving the dog a few lumps of meat. Salukis take ages to grow up and recognise you as their leader/protector etc: the poor buggers that are passed from pillar to post don't get a chance to bond with anyone. Yes, my young Saluki types do want to hunt away and they are a pain until they grow out of that stage but by taking them out working a lot they learn to stay with you as you are the one that is showing them the game: mine work very well with terriers round cover, they ferret and although the one I have at the moment isn't a lamp dog as such: (not enough take off speed in small areas) he doesn't bugger off and if he misses a catch he's straight back.

all been said really , like all dogs they wont learn alot stuck in the kennell

 

 

i can only assume that they get thisbad name for pi..ing off becouse they didnt get the training in the first place,
