Little Butch 16
Moving Into Town centre and my Car's off the road so thought a Bike would be a good way to get about and would probably be quicker than a Car about Town.. Got about £200 to spend so not a great deal but would like something along the lines of a second hand Kona Scrap, that kind of thing as I wouldn't mind going back to my childhood and going mad on a bike! What can I get for my money? Butch
DIDO.1 22,864
I bought mountain bike to do the coast to coast and am useing it to go to work on but it really pisses me off [bANNED TEXT] road bikes over take me with little effort! Think im goin to trade it in for a racer! I got a specialized hard rock for £300, the reviews said it was best in its class but I dont really know much more about em! I might sell it for £250 as I dont think me knees up to it!
RicW 67
You need a "semi", sprung forks, hardtail, not a full springer. Have a look in Halfords. They used to sell really crap bikes but they have some decent gear in now. Ric

Fair comment. Still worth looking round the shops, get an idea of what would suit you then check out the 2/h market. Remember a lot of bikes are post-coded so if it's dirt cheap it's nicked! Ric. SNAP SHOT 194
If looking at the mountain bike's get sprug forks only, and change the types to road use ones..... as the off roads take some massive effort to get anywhere, halfords do some good stuff at the minute, i've got a Claud Butler alpina myself for off road use, and the odd road work, haven't had it out in a while though due to illness.... full sprung suspension will transfer all your pedaling effort into downward motion and transfer it though the shocks rather than to the pedal effort... Snap.
Little Butch 16
Cheers, will see what I can get for my money once I've sold my Air Rifle and a few other bits Not really after a full on road bike as I like to abuse my bikes a bit and It would be used for 'messing about' so thought theKona Scrap style bikes would suit me!
