Pops 19
got a descent rod that i occassionally use for catfish. i need some websites to teach me how to get started on carp. here they are a pest so they will all be consumed. so i need to know how to catch them and what to do w/them after they're caught. i figure you gentlemen & ladies have been at this far longer than us over here so you all should be able to point me in the right direction. Thanks all. Quote Link to post
Pops 19
come on, no one going to point me in the right direction. it's not like i'm going to fly over & steal your favorite spot. Edited June 9, 2010 by Pops Quote Link to post
Headshot08 36
Right. What type of pools are you fishing in? What sizes do they range from? Ill help you. Keep me posted! Steve Quote Link to post
Pops 19
it'll mostly be lake fishing and since no one really fishes for them here (except for a few guys using bows) they get pretty good size on them. looking for VERY basic techniques as i'm not a real commited fisherman. gnipper 6,806
Basic, bread(floating or sunk) and sweetcorn. You can always try hot dog sausages and dog biscuits too if they aren't catching. Quote Link to post

Whats the depths of the lake? How big is it? Are the fish really timid? I have always had great sucess in using floating bread in the summer months the carp will be on the surface and looking for easy food. French stick is the best bread just throw afew peices out and watch to see if they rise for it and you will hear a sucking sound! Dont listen to some people telling you you have to have all the best fishing gear around! please reply! Steve Quote Link to post
Pops 19
not timid at all because no one really fishes them. most are caught by people fishing for something else. corn is illegal here, but have got the green light from the fish cops to use cornmeal in homemade baits. the people going after them on purpose are mostly shooting them w/arrows from compound bows. my daughters like to go fishing and a simple technique that they could use as well would be great. thanks for averything so far. the lake is about 10-15 miles long by about 2 miles at the widest. not sure about depth.
