watchman 256
well i know its still a few months yet before national grid notice the sudden surge of electricity as we all plug in those battery chargers and check our lamps and rest of our kit,but how is this season going to start for you. for me,well no specific date, ill just be at work that day and i usually just get that feeling, you know the one,bit cloudy, maybe a bit of drizzle and a cool wind blowing, and you say to yourself, the moons right, tonight's the night. so with the new season and my bull x at two years old,she will get the first night out. finished on a high this last one,had to be a bit patient but was well rewarded with the dog taking her quarry how i want to see it, picking up the shot foxes with a good first hold very keen for the job in hand, hopefully with no injury's being carried and the bitch fit,all will go well. my hancock pup will be about 13months old,but she will be getting a completely different night out,the night you look forward to when starting a dog on the lamp, all the basics are in place and she seems a steady enough bitch so hopefully with rabbits sitting a long way out her time will come, she will either pick up the bunny and head back for that perfect, live to hand retrieve, with me smiling like a kid in a sweet shop,or as we all no,could go horribly wrong and was last seen heading north on the m1,eating her catch lol, time will tell. basically my start of the season will be looking forward to getting out on that first night, not once but twice, pays to have two dogs sometimes, even if both are completely different in the work they are expected to do,but heres hopeing we all have a good one anyway, Quote Link to post
