Malt 379
I've only ever known of one, as far as I know it used to go stalking with the guy who owned it. Quote Link to post
dogs-n-natives 1,182
couldnt say about the one youve been offered, but I see one working every season, on the pheasant, partridge and grouse, id say it suits its owner very well, it is remarkably steady, and just plods about in front, has an awesome nose, and a solid point. Im not sure if this is characteristic of the breed or if its just this one. Bit too slow for me, and dosent range too far, Id like a dog of pointer breeding to sweep wide if needed. It finds everything in fromt of its handler though, credit to her and the dog. Quote Link to post
poacher3161 1,766
I have heard them being used as falconry dogs .The odd ones i have seen have been big lumps and apparently the breed was formed by cross breeding an italian course haired setter and a white mastiff from the region.atb dell Quote Link to post

A field bred springer/cocker spaniel would be the best gun dog to use as an out and out flushing machine, but saying that a half decent terrier that won't go to ground will do the same thing. EDITED: I would say they are far too big for watt you want and would stick with a spaniel.atb dell You beat me to it Dell! That'll teach me to bugger off half way through a reply!
