I was given a basket case rifle(disassembled) by a work associate 3 years ago, it is a Savage lever action model 1899 - After researching the parts vendors online I came up short several parts that are near impossible to get.... After six months of searching for the parts I gave the gun to another friend who said He could get it fixed... Over a year passed and the original owner who gave me the gun called me and said he had found the missing parts in his work shop storage area.... So I grabbed the parts from him and tried to contact the friend I had given the rifle to he did not answer his cell phone and another 6 months passed. Then one day he called - he had been on a bender and was coming out of a deep slump - he told me he had dropped the rifle off at a gunsmith and he to could not find the needed parts... We contacted the smith and retrieved the rifle my depressed friend said he feared that he might loose it again and said now that I had the parts it was mine again.....

I attempted to assemble it from an exploded drawing downloaded from online.....LOL........ Another couple of months passed.... LOL..........I mentioned the old rifle to one of my brothers hunting clients and she said she knew of a good gunsmith - so I gave her the rifle..... Several more months went by and I was helping my brother out on a turkey hunt last week as he had three clients in the hunt camp and needed a part time cook.... The lady I had given the rifle too was one of the clients and one night in camp she pulled the rifle out of the boot of her truck and handed it back to me fully assembled in good working condition... My tip for cooking edible camp cuisine! http://i1021.photobu...emodel1899c.jpg
