Mickey Finn 3,087
I've never had a neutered male either. But I've seen some really screwed up looking males that were neutered too early. Here's something to look at. The vet who wrote this goes against the popular neuter all male phenomenum we see over here. But what she says makes alot more sense then what the neuter nazi's say. http://www.showdogsu...tionindogs.html ISSUES REGARDING CASTRATION IN DOGS Politically correct conventional wisdom is not necessarily biologically correct. Also, old wives tales regarding testicles and behavioral matters are often just that. The only true justifications for castrating dogs are 1) aggressive behavior toward other dogs in the same household, and 2) perianal adenoma in old dogs. Quote Link to post

anagallis_arvensis 2
f you fault your dog for aggression in a 'dog park' where he is running free, or on the beach, or in the woods, well shame on you; you're the one at fault for risking his life in such an uncontrolled situation. makes me think the article is written by an idiot Quote Link to post
collie/grey 238
As long as a dog isn't neutured before it is mature i.e usually around the 18 month old mark then it will have no effect whatsoever. I had my eldest bitch spayed at 4 years old and it hasn't changed her much at all. She isn't overweight, pretty fit actually, just watch what you feed and regular exersize, she is 8 1/2 years old now. Quote Link to post

Fabapocalypse 35
"Aggression to other dogs in situations outside the house is pretty normal dog behavior. Appropriate behavior. Since your dog will be on lead or inside a secure fence at all times, there should be no problem with dogs outside your household. " That's just one of a good few points in the article open to question. If you click on the link to the author's name, she's the director of a canine fertility centre. So she needs all the testicles she can get. Pinch of salt time, I think. Neutering shouldn't affect a dog's working ability provided it's not done too young and they're kept fit afterwards.
