burnie69 376
I use the plastic traps with salmon carcasses as bait they catch better at night so your better emptying them in the morning We get £2 a kilo for them and in good areas we'll fill a black dustinbin with about 12 traps but the waters around us are heavily populated around us.You show be able to tell by the condition of the crayfish if theres alot in that water crayfish with pincers missing shows you that there's alot about and beleive or not there is a pecking order with em the bigger ones rule the waters (obviously)
PINNACLE 2,297
Just thought I would mention it is illigal to catch them without a licence. If you call the Enviromental Agency on 014804839868 they will send you a crayfish pack on how and where you can catch them and an application form for a licence, the licence is "free" so worth every penny as you can be fined £2,500 without one. Most rivers have an active bayliff and I have been stopped in the past. £2,500 is a lot for a few crayfish and the fine can be more if you are caught catching the native white claw crayfish. burnie69 376
Chicken is also good bait.As for the licence there very easy to get.If you've signal crayfish in the waters don't worry about the native white claw because there won't be any signal's kill em

So if the licence is free, what is the point of having one? obvious answer would be the 2,500 fine but what benifit is there for the ea ? Richard
