air gunner 0
As ever zini an excellent vid! I have played around with long ranges with my springer also. Now I'v hit pellet tins at 60yrds and walnuts at 50 but I can't do it every time like yourself. The pellets I'm using are fairly light weight so they suck for real life conditions. Would fx pellets suit a gas rammed BSA supersport I'm not sure of the current power output but it's between 10 and 12ft/lbs I'm sure. (I'm getting it chronoed soon so I can play around with the hawke chairgun proggrame properly) Also what do you zero at? And what holdover were you using? I zeroed at 35yrds specially to shoot long ranges and had from what I remember a 3 mill holdover (it was some time ago) Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Hi Air Gunner, I would say try the FX pellets in your barrel and use a chrono to see what power they are flying out at. My BSA loves FX but that’s a PCP. Only trial and error shows the truth. I was always told that PCPs love heavy pellets and springers love light weight pellets but after testing my Pro Sport I found that the FX 16 grains where much better in consistency and power than the lighter weight RWS and Accupells. Just goes to show there is always a surprise in shooting with a air rifle. Regarding zero range I zero now at 25 metres or 27 yards with all my .22s, this is to ensure that I stay within a 2.5 cm area along 95% of the trajectory so almost guaranteeing me a kill as long as I still apply the correct shooting principles. With a .177 I think something like 32 metres or 35 yards is just about right to keep the same area. Regarding my aim points I use different scope so have different mil dot aim points for each scope. On a whole though I like to calibrate each scope with the magnification wheel so that it works out that each mil dot represents 5 metres over the trajectory. Si Quote Link to post

air gunner 0
Cheers Si I will see if the RFD has some fx pellets and il get them to chrono it with them. Now if I get a chronoed with fx pellets but don't get on with them and convert to rws will the gun have a different ft/lb and if it does will chairgun convert it for me? Thanks for all your help zini I'm going to be hunting most of next week so hopefully the results will be great Quote Link to post
