SNAP SHOT 194
Well with it being a bank holiday you'd think that retailers weren't gonna open up on tuesday.... i was flat out all day and rather shocked to see this woman rush into the shop crying.....!!!!! Thinking what the hells up... She asked was there a local vet about, to which i replied whats the trouble...? she said her dog had been badly injured, thinking hit by a car... to myself, she had blood on her... So i called in the yard staff to man the tills and i proceeded to get the vets number.... and her husband came running in... asking did she get sorted...? i went to see the dogs injuries, and was totally shocked.... the dog a Grey x of some kind had seen a rabbit in a field beside the shore front... made of and pulled the lead from the womans hand... went clean through 4 strands of barb wire.... and had a cut from the front shoulder 1/2 way down the right side near the spine....!!! chest was also badly cut, down the right side with a small cut to the front left leg too.... the amount of blood i seen i was shocked.... so i rushed into the store got some wound powder, and aluspray..... and ran to the first aid kit..... i dosed the dogs back until the blood was clotting with the powder, and sprayed the chest and leg.... and received a bite for my trouble... nothing serious... i wrapped the dog in a full roll of bandage.... and gave them the directions, and said i phone to make sure someone was on duty.... got through on the mobile number to which she said she was on call at a local farm and could be at the practice in 10mins.... it'd take them about 15 mins to get there... so of they went directions wrote down and route marked... i wrote the vets directions on headed business paper.... and received a call from the vet stating that my actions had saved the dog from bleeding out and that i had no doubt in her mind saved the animals life....!!!!!!!! the woman also said she'd drive back to pay for the items i used and i said it would be fine, but she insisted, so i told her to make a donation to the vet, which is going to the local animal hospital... So after a day of feeling shit and thinking of my own troubles all day.... i was proud i'd done something to be at least a little proud of myself... moral of the story...... take a little first aid kit with you and leave it in the car..... for you field sports enthusiasts you never know when you may be called to use it..
