watchman 256
just because its a bull x,doesnt mean it needs treating different from any other mate, first few months of basic training, recall is a must, sit stay ect and plenty socialisation with other dogs, bit of retrieving although would not over do it,let it be a pup is what i have been told and i stick to this, plenty time yet before you even think of running it on quarry, give you time to read up the vast amount of info on here regarding bringing your dog on atb with it mate Edited April 3, 2010 by watchman Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,217
What do you mean by pup - 8 weeks or 5 months? Makes a big difference. It doesn't need to be chasing anything until it's 8, 10, 12 months (depending on the individual dog). Up until that point just let it be a pup and then slowly start to introduce BASIC training including recall, sitting, staying, leaving, walking to heal etc etc etc etc etc Don't over do it, don't make it boring, remember it's just a pup, it's a baby. But everyday can be a lesson for it - take it for walks once it's had its jabs - it can learn about sheep, cows, horses, chickens, cats, other dogs, gates, fences, dykes, bushes, trees, rivers and streams, puddles, rabbit holes etc etc etc remember that EVERYTHING is a lesson to a wee pup. atb buddy, Jai.
