jigsaw 11,900
Had a call from some chap looking for 2 kids for his easter sunday lunch so no time like the present,my youngest sibling and I went off.we were racing against time and weather, after an hours drive we arrived at 5.30 p.m. and had about 2 hrs to find what we needed.we turned up the farmers lane and there before our eyes were a herd of roughly 30 goats of all shapes and sizes, this herd is the small herd as theres easily between 60 and in the big herd.Kevin and I drove past them and they raised their head a little but they werent spooked. After puting on the rain gear as it was pouring with rain we did a bit of sneaking about and we did a good job as we lifted a hare from its seat at the very last minute and it ran into the field where the goats were and they started to run about nervously,I couldnt make out why they were so jumpy but they settled after a short while. We had to reposition ourselves again and then i settled on a post and shot 2 in quick succession, the herd panicked and ran straight in my direction and past my son by only a few feet, all 30 + of them you should have seen his face, sheer terror as there were a few big billys amongst them.Heres afew pics of our evening,I wanted to take more pics but the rain was relentless. one happy young man after the shooting I visited a neighbouring farm and we went to inspect the labour ward, lol. and the other side of my young lad,he is a big softie in his own way. these are the ewes bonding with their new borns for the first few days and keeps them out of the rain also heres the expectant mothers waiting their turn to give birth, some have managed it allready and heres some that havent I know this is every day life for some of you on here,I hope others may find it interesting Edited March 30, 2010 by jigsaw
