Falcon lighthunter-BSA Ultra multi ???

Recommended Posts

Hiya Guys.

At the moment Im shooting an HW100T .22 and love it to bits.

Im now looking for a light weight rifle for hide shooting and woodland cover.

I have been sooooo close to buying the Ultra, but the Falcon has taken my eye too  .

Fromm all you guy's that shoot these two, Id appreciate your feelings and findings.

I know that the Ultra benifits from a HW silencer upgrade, how quiet is the Falcon, and doe's that need an upgrade too??

Thanks in antisipation.

o am in the same dilema as you bill. i have tried the ultra and i didnt like the cocking system. the falcon has much better looks than the ultra. the falcon has the higher shot count. bsa stocks do not fit me as well as other stocks. although i have never toucjed a falcon lighthunter they look comfy. you can get the lighthunter in either bull barrel or normal barrels. thats why i did a poll about bullbarrels to see what they were like. for me its either going to be a falcon lighthunter or air arms s410 tdr.

And if you're interested Bill, I'm thinking of selling my .177 TDR. Haven't put it up for sale anywhere yet though. Great rifle for what you require and nice and light. See how highly the gamekeeper in this months Airgun mag rates it.

Hi Mate

Without wanting to steer you off course to much, Davy and Sib are right IMO. I tried the ultra out and found the cocking system annoying. My S410 .22 TDR is all that the Ultra promises and more. I use it now as my main gun and most of the time I am shooting from woodland, hides or Pill Boxes, couldn't be more suited for any of them.

The other good point about TDR's is that they have little wood work to knock, scrape or catch in confined spaces or woodland. My HW77 stock is less than 6 months old and looks worse than the one I replaced it with!

I don't know much about the Falcon, but again, shooting as often as I do, I would chip that stock in a matter of minutes! Looks nice though!

Good luck with your decision, just my thoughts.

All the best.

James

Hiya James.

Thank you for your valued thoughts and knowlage buddy.

I understand what your saying re the TDR, and I did give it a lot of serious thought.

It is a very versatile rifle, I just do not think Id get on with it.

I think what's putting put me off the TDR is the fact it's quite skeletal, of course its meant to be, that's the design.

So the search goe's on :D
