strange bird

hi guys

was out this evening trying to nab a few pigeons on the way back to roost when i saw 2 large black items in the middle of the field.

As i walked over to see what it was they took off,

There was 2 of the birds slighlty bigger than crows but they were black with white undersides.

The main thing that struck me about these birds was the noise they made. It was like nothing ive ever heard from a bird.

I would like to know what these birds are so if any one knows what they please post.

That's really strange. I went out for a walk earlier and saw exactly the same birds, black with white undersides. One of them was making a noise that sounded almost like sqeaky growling.

Yea mate thats the one iv e never seen them before and i walk these feilds nearly every day they have just appeared over night

im not sure i googled them just there and they look like them but do this lapwings make a very high pitched squeel ??

also these birds i saw did not flock as the google discription explains they do ??

they do flock mate but prob pairing up now

just looked up lapwing calls on youtube and they sound like the ones i heard over the last day

Could be Lapwings, but could also be Oyster Catchers. There's loads of them by me and they make a right old racket. Did you see a bright orange beak?

Another vote for Oystercatchers, they are really noisy.

got to be oyster catchers but you must have seen the beak, very long with orange on it????????????????
