Lee85 44
I've got a small stretch of river on my permission - but - it has all the typical mink prey on it, i'm thinking of going down and having a look, has anyone any experiances of shooting mink? what would be the best time to go? would you use a lamp? any 'tactics' cheers guys Quote Link to post
aaronpigeonplucker 32
i've shot them on a fishery before. talk to the gamekeeper/fishery owner aout where they are seen most often. then its just a matter of sitting and waiting. hard to take a shot though as they are always moving. andyfr1968 772
Way back in the mid 's some do-gooding f***ing w****rs released a farm full of minks a few miles up river from the estate where I worked. The minks then proceeded to kill pretty much all the riverside wildlife for miles around. Nice to see the tossers had thought it through before they let them lose..... They are plenty killable with an airgun but please, be VERY careful with them. As Aaron's said, they don't stay still for long, so getting a good shot can be tricky and if you do get a hit, shoot it again. They are very tough and very aggressive. Cheers and good luck! JackReid 35
I personally have very little experience in even identifying them so If I came accross one I wouldnt shoot till' I had checked it out. I like seeing a variety of wildlife about, hence why I wouldnt enjoy shooting a stag in Engalnd for example when its such a rare sight (in some places). Will have a little look online just incase I ever cross one Jack Edited March 18, 2010 by JackReid Quote Link to post

aaronpigeonplucker 32
i have been bitten by one before. though it was dead but it turned round and sunk its needle teeth into my palm. i dropped it and quickly and painlessly crushed its skull. always give them a second shot now.
