Recommended Posts

hi all ,

just purchased my .243 on sat its a howa 1500 b/a thumbhole laminate s/s

with the new mtc taipan scopes(4-16-50) and a wildcat predator 8 mod

when i asked for some ammo for fox and deer he put me straight onto sakos 90 gr with others on the forum talking 55 gr and 75 gr but more to the point the bullet has to generate 1700ft lb so has he advised me rightly or is he just thinking its closest to 100 gr ?

any pointers please ,thanks alot

There is no doubt that a number of .243 rounds don't make it to 1700ft lb, your barrel length also has something to answer for here as well.

People will tend to use 90-100g for deer (100g minimum Scotland) and the lighter stuff, commonly ballistic tips for fox etc.
