davyt63 1,845
hi every one as i bought some bisley magnums .22 at the shooting show last week i thought i would put them through a test Saturday, but all wasn't going well with me moderator as it would not align properly ,due to the Allen thread wearing and not being able to tighten it fully so ditched that, but will do another test soon! when i was at the permission it would of been rude! not to have a look around,to which i did and see about 6 Bunny's out playing in the afternoon sun.they were about yds away from me so a good stalk was on! via the shadows of the hedge line probably about minutes out of my way! but as im nearly 48 and do like a good crawl along the ground,my max mph for crawling that distance the Bunny's would of had kits by the time i reached my zero range! LOL so i have set my max to 30yds crawling LOL anyways im off around the hedge line real slow as you have to picture its an open field so slow movement is a must! i was making good time as i done it in 41 minutes must be the the cull of smoking that has given me the extra energy,as im going to need it in the summer for the moonlight valley hills/mountains for those of you who have been there will know this is true no im at my 25yds crawling to a single telegraph pole just of the north edge of the open field,so down i go and a nice relaxed crawl stopping twice for a breather,as the food i ate in new York had taken its toll puffing!! & panting!! he says.now im at my zero range by the time i got there 3 had disappeared and three remaining,i watched them for about minutes to make sure they was completely relaxed and happy grazing.unaware a AA FIELD .22 was about to mess up there day so slowly loaded my mag in and cocked the AAS410K and put the safety on! controlled my breathing had the cross hairs locked on the target the Bunny's brain :thumbs:took up the first stage slight exhale THWACK! turned into a THWUCK!! went straight over its head the other two ran for cover but only as far as the hedge edge as they always do! o another shot was lined up same procedure THWUCK!! missed again. now the reason for these Misses was the fact that which i thought i had solved the moderator problem which i had prior in my zero session it had come loose i was really of with my self as Adrenalin took over experience a mistake i rarely do.but as i haven't been out for a while i was keen mistake! any ways i sat there for another hour n half to see what kind of activity was going to arise after this, which was promising as i returned in the night with me lamp! and a changed moderator of me AAS410K .177 WHICH WAS TIGHT!!! and sat down by me telegraph pole facing to wards the illumination from the garage forecourt 200yds away which light up half the field, then at 8:16 the whole forecourt lights went of RESULT!! and all the traffic stopped on the A420 which runs parallel with my permission, then i began to see heavy highway maintenance vehicles going up and down the road. and thought !! i did see a sign saying some thing about the 6th march.just goes to show how much attention to detail i was paying that day, hence the earlier errors,so a quick flick of the lamp and two red jewels responded back glistening of my lamp.so of it goes again and had to make a decision here the road workers are going to be here all night,i may not be able to get back out and home, two Bunny's out may not get any more because of the road works/noise. so composed my self got my self in to position,Ir on lamp on safety of cross hairs on,first stage trigger done ,exhale THWACK!!!! watched the follow through and see it do an Olympic jump and a landing finish to die for!! well i cant tell you how pleased i was with this result being it was one bunny. the work that went it to getting it was well!! im speechless as you can probably tell by this short post and it being with my .22 as well the bunny was about 35yds away me tinks there abouts so my zero was spot on! ( TIP FOR BEGINNERS ) will say this though never let adrenalin!excitement!or frustration take over as the results can be miserable! but firstly always check that your equipment is functioning spot on before taking your quarry where it fell'ish and thid one is for my buddy phantom,as i do know he like to dable in entry & exit wounds happy hunting davy Quote Link to post
