Hopefully someone can help me ? Below are some pictures of my dog Ossie. We've had him 15 months now, he was a rescue. We know nothing about him. The Rescue and the Vets say he's around six. He stands just short of 27 inch, weighs 32kg.

My question is......What cross is he ?

Iv'e been told he's got Saluki/Deer/Grey in him but i'm new to all this so don't know.

I'm going to rabbit with him with a friends Jacks and Ferrets. He's already taken a Fox, and got cut for his trouble.

Do you think he'll be alright ?

Cheers,

Arch.

i'm no expert mate, who told you the make up/breeding?

do you have any reason not to beleive it?

when you say taken a fox i presume you mean "retrieved" it after being shot? otherwise (if in england) it would be illegal.

Yer he looks older - due to the grey muzzle. Some dogs have that though. I would say - Collie/Deer/Grey rather than Saluki but could be anything. Where did you rescue him from - if hes taken a fox already he obviously has been worked before.

He caught the Fox after it put up a Pheasent while we we're out walking near our local woods, and no, i don't have any reason to disbelive the guy who told me what he thought his breeding was. I just thought i ask people on here who might know more.

thanks for the reply

He was in our garden a year last Xmas, we caught him, gave him some food, then took him to the Vets. They handed him in to the Rescue centre, we (the wife) said lets go and see him. She took one look at the Centre and said " He's not stopping here " so we had him. He's more of a pet really, but he's got a bit of nouse in him. So we'll see how he goes.

Looking at the head i would say saluki, looking at the body shape i would say its got grey in it and with the hight it could well have some deer in it. From what you say i reckon he sounds like a goodum mate. As hese done fox already i agree hese probably been worked in the past. As you got him from a rescue i would say perhaps he was owned by a c**t before and didnt do something as well as the aformentioned c**t wanted (possibly lamping) and as a result got dumped (which is what c**ts do with dogs they dont want) which would be how the rescue got hold of him.

i thought maybe some terrier from the frontal head shot but its very hard to see saluki there?

Thanks for the replys Guys, At least Iv'e got a bit more info on what sort of cross Ossie is.

As regards working him on rabbits, lets just say he's more part time than full time. If we're out and he gets a few, all well and good. If he doesn't, well to me it's no big deal, as long as he has a good time thats what matters.

Cheers,

Arch.
