Interesting Ric,but does the bible/christian faith condone this behaviour? Individual nutters come in all faiths[and atheism] but the islamic religion actually condones bad treatement of women,beating,stoning,marrying children,the list goes on.

Ric scraping the bottom of the barrel a bit in imo,come on how many christians would support that? on the other hand we see muslims doing terrible things all the time in the name of islam,honour killings,stonings,female genital mutilation[cultural].

It just doesnt compare,i know theres violence and perversion in most religious texts thats why im a staunch atheist,its all bullshit,but the point is the other religions moved away from barbarity [on the whole] and islam is a step backwards.

 

There are 85 sharia courts operating in the UK [kept that quiet havent they] so after all the legislation and "womens lib" Labour are allowing an islamic sharia court to operate when its a fact "a womens word is worth half that of a man" ???? a step back.

The point I am trying to make is that religious extremism of any type, not only Islam, is invariably malign. As for how many Christians would support such behaviour, take a look at Edd Wiltshire's post. I take as read that very few Christians in this country, apart from the Fundamentalist Evangelist bunch, would endorse it for one moment, but there a lot of breeds of Christian! In fact, I think that your views and mine are pretty close. Israel's Government is dominated by fundamentalist Orthodox Judaism, and Hamas by fundamentalist Islam. So they are locked in pointless wasfare while the ordinary people of Gaza starve. There have been major clashes in India between Hindu fundamentalists and Islamic groups, and very close to home it's not long since Catholics and Protestants were slaughtering each other, men women and children.

 

Bear in mind that Judaism, Christianity and Islam are the "Religions of the Book"; The Talmud, Bible and Qu'ran all share common background. All three religions claim descent from Abraham.

 

I totally agree that the form of Islam promulgated from the Middle East, especially Saudi Arabian Wahabbi Islam, is incomparably the worst. Do you realise thast ALL repeat ALL Islamic faith schools in the UK are Wahabbist? We are storing up trouble for the future.
