Sully 3
Hi all, Lexy adnd I seam to be in the wars at the moment, yesterday while out on a near by park, Lexy tried to get through a fence, yep you got it, hidden away on the fence was the dreaded barbed wire, well Ive got to be honest, while out I didnt notice anything but when I got her home and was giving her a rub down I saw the tear, it's about "2" long and is situated in the floppy skin under her arm pit (best way to describe it) it's not bothering her at all, it's clean and she catnt get to it to lick, im obviously not excercising her till it's mended, she's kept inside and is currently asleep with the wife in my bed !!! please dont have ago at me, Im a decent fella, who loves my dog very much, Thanks for reading, Craig and Lexy
Hannah4181 260
Hi ya, I would probably get her to the vet for a couple of stitches, a 2inch wound will heal but may take a while . . . . . . very awkward place to heal aswell, and the longer its open the more chance of infection. If its sticked, she'll be back up and doing in no time.
Sully 3
Hi Hannah, Thanks for your help, I just have an issue with her being put under, goes back to a family dog Years ago not coming round after a very minor op, if it's the way to go I'll take her but I dont like risking if there's a chance it'll be ok with other means, checked today and looks like it's healing already, but your right, I dont want it getting infected and or keep popping open, Craig
Hannah4181 260
Totally your call, the vet may well be able to do it with sedation instead of GA. It may heal fine on its own, but from previous experience of a tear in the same spot, i would still recommend stitches.

sandymere 8,263
Most small tears will heal on their own but ones near joints can suck air into the wound, surgical emphysema, which is a problem, it feeels strange bit like bubble wrap so if in dought vet is best. rickyspringer 15
agree with sandymere bitch had something very similar recently, 4 staples later and right as rain, have to watch out for the feeling of bubblewrap as mentioned as a drip may be needed, I was lucky that my bitch's cleared. GOOD LUCK mate
