Closed ticket

Recommended Posts

Im applying for my FAC/SGC and when i get it im sure its going to be a closed ticket until they feel i can have it opened. I fully understand the difference of the two but with a closed ticket, if you get more land which has already been passed for the calibres you want to use can you go ahead and shoot there or do you still have to send the details into the FEO and wait for them to ok you? if so does this take long?

Thanks Adam

P.S. should be a fair few questions to come as i make the step up from air rifle to FAC :D

Hi mate,

Check with the area police that the ground has been passed for the intendid calibre, farmers dont always get it right :icon_redface: Then get written permission from land owner , have a walk around boundaries to check for any potential problems when shooting & away you go...No need to send any other details to the police..

PS may be wise to find out how many other people shoot the area,,,

cheers LD,

i was hoping it would be that simple. other than my main permission i have one or two places where i have been invited but dont have perminant access i know that the keeper only shoots there with his mates and so no problems with being in a difficult situation in that way. it would have been a right pain if every time i had the opportunity to shoot on some other ground i would have had to send a form of some sort to the police.

Thanks again Adam

If your certificate restricts you to a particular piece, or pieces, of land then that/those are the only ones you can shoot on.

How long it takes depends upon force area and even then it can vary wildly from time to time depending on what they have on at the time. There is a period every few years when lots of cert's come up for renewal because it changed several years back from 3 years to 5 so all the ones which were originally on the 3 year rota all come up over a 3 year period and the remaing 2 years are quiet. This is why my force area is currently taking 10 bloody weeks to renew or issue a ticket.

Your cert should say "Ok to shoot "X land" (Where you nominated as your land for that calibre) and any land approved by the chief constable of police."

Check with the police (I like e-mail) that any other land you potentially want to shoot on is passed, and you can go as and when you please.

I have two that I'm waiting for at the moment, one is in a different forces area so I emailed all the land and landowner details to my FLO and they pass it on to the appropriate area FLO, the other I rang my FEO, he asked me to send him a copy of the permission letter and a map outlining the boundaries.
