Don 5
Busy with training my new pup and I was wondering what your thoughts are on using one of those so called 'silent whistles' for recall, does anybody use them?
hedz31 1,308
Cant imagine them being any good for a lurcher pal if your going to use it for lamping am sure if a dog can hear it a rabbit or what ever your intended quarry is will hear it as well
Annmarie09 5
I hate the bloomin things. Use a gundog whistle!
wuyang 513
I used one but never persisted with it..just make my own whistles now...dead easy look on youtube.
wrowmon 1
not worth it in my opinion always had a problem finding the right pitch for my dogs and if the dog is hundred yards out still hunting it will ignore but two sharp pips of a normal wistle it comes back in. Don 5
Thanks for the replies, from what i've gathered then a standard gundog whistle tends to be the preferred choice.
poacher3161 1,766
Dont bother with one mate their never seems to be any consistency with them and their a sod if they get a bit of grit in them.Likes been said get an ordinary gun dog whistle either a 110 an half or a 111 an half i would not be without mine as the lurchers soon recalled back to a few peeps .They come into their own if the lurcher has disapeared into woodland as shouting can alert other things like ?? atb dell

Shadowstalker 2
I use an ACME 210.5 for my gundog, terrier and lurcher all with positive response.
Annmarie09 5
Mine is a 210.5 too, you can get them off ebay for just under a fiver including postage. I see they have them in more fancy colours these days - mine is just plain ol' black! Oh, and the same guy also sells F the Ban collars, I think someone was asking about them recently.
