Helen 2
I am furious! I have also done something I have never done in my life before; I called someone a Moron and put down the phone! I have a very good young dog obedient, natural retriever and a fantastic nose. Not my words the words of someone who competes at World Championships with a dog and also the words of the top Working Trials Trainer in the country! I decided I would like to do for fun, the grade 1,2 and maybe three Retriever tests with him, he could do the one and two without any additional training. I rang the Gun Dog club to join a course so that he was eligible to take the tests. They decided the trainer might not want him on the course! To cut a long story short no she didn't want him on the course she came out with every excuse in the book including what happened if a bird came down near him, it didn't matter that I live on a Smallholding she didn't think he would be capable of going in another direction! After twisting my words and at least twenty excuses why he couldn't do the job, because I insisted yes he could she had the cheek to say I thought he was the best dog in the World, it was at this point I called her a Moron. She has never seen my dog, let alone seen him work. The reason for all this nonsense, he is a Standard Poodle if he was a Labradoodle that would have been okay. He has come up against two Labradoodles in Working Trials and run rings round them. He has also run rings round one or two working Labradors, so why the Problem? Rant over and apologies but surely a good dog is a good dog no matter what breed it is! Very luckily I have an uncle in law who has now retired but used to train Gundogs, he has always said my dog is very birdie so I will drag him out of retirement and prove the woman wrong. I can see the problem, you made the mistake of employing logical arguement when conversing with a woman, in my experience always a mistake Quote Link to post
Helen 2
As you can see by my name I am also a woman, but you're right! Always a mistake to use a logical argument. Funny thing though the stage one and two that I wanted to take are so easy I didn't need to train with them first, I was being Polite! Quote Link to post
