I have an epson R220 and it prints lovely even tho its a couple of years old ..so tbh i would go with an epson because the more different colour cartridges the better the print( someone will shoot me down for this)

Also if you get the original cartridges for printing photo's you won't be far wrong and get the cheap copies (refilled if you wish) for the day to day running of it

One thing just bear in mind the replacement cartridge price can be severely expensive on the pocket

As much as I am a Nikon man with cameras, Im an Epson man with printers, Epson paper, Epson inks and an Epson 1400..The 1400 prints both A3 and A4

You have my deepest sympathy  Canon all the way here :D If anyone's interested in an Epson 2100 A3 photo printer complete with continuous inking system (no more buying Epson cartridges to fill it up at £90 a go...) PM me before it goes in the skip...

I have got a can printer but it costs more for the ink that the printer cost .. so i only use it for text printing

I am quite happy with the prints i had done at asda i think i paid a quid for a 10 x8 something like that ... makes cheap pressies for the family when i send granny photo's of the lad i took

Will the ink flo system fit the Epson 1400, or is it specifically for the model you have..if it does I would be interested in it..

I'm with Kay on this one, you just can't do your pictures justice on consumer printers, as well as it works out no cheaper and the results IMO are worse

What a load of cr*p, I print A3 mostly for competition, so not doing pictures justice on your own printer, thats a new one

I'd agree in principle, but I guess you do need to know a bit about colour management, and calibrate your monitor and use the right printer profile and all that technical stuff, or you can end up with some very strange results...

But doing your own printing does mean that you can run off a few test prints and get them looking exactly how you want.

Most of the new photo printers that are around £80-100 give excellent results straight out of the box, but you do need to use the proper photo paper.
