what a load of rubbish ,to small for this ,to slow for that ,the main reason most dont please the owners and make a ,so called arounder,is the owners them selves ,because they dont let their dogs see enought stuff to make it a dog that will have a go at most things .how many of you realy get out that mutch in places where your dog can get a chance to shine ,no more than about 1 in 100 i bet .and this stands for all breeds

Thats a load of crap so 21tts dogs make the perfect allrounders you can show them all the stuff in the world but if they havent got the pace or running ability they arnt going to perform in the task of being the allround lurcher on all quarry pre ban of course.

What a load of balls some dogs cant do the job because of size etc FACT to me an all round lurcher is a dog that can do everything it does not have to be a world beater but can occasionaly do the lot hows a small dog gonna cope with fox,or deer it aint hows a heavy first cross gonna cope with hare and fast jinking rabbits they are not are they, hows the great tall crosses gonna fair in comparison to smallers dogs for rabbits ferreting and general mouching bushing etc an all round lurcher to me is a dog of medium size not over heavy what is capable of taking the quarry it sees when the oppertunity arises i also think an all rounder should have a use for every outing you take either lamping day time mouching working with terriers or hounds etc etc, also all this should be done single handed not doubled up.

ive seen it first hand big powerfull dogs standing 28tts heads like buckets, just a quick story on a particullar supposidley"top dog"we were lamping a fox in a big field and the young lad with us just happened to see something else just behind us,so we lampt that instead,i let my friend slip his"top dog"on it the dog just made a right meal of it holding it by the arse and not taking a proper hold,we had no choice but slip my older dog who held him prperly while he was despatched my dog stands at 23tts...he was a bedy grey, sadley no longer with me,but in replace of him ive got a bedyxgreyxbull same size...and doing the bussiness, what i say to people is if you are happy with you animals and they are doing what you want them to do then to hell with what other people say or do just has long has you enjoy you hunting.. :notworthy: SIZE ISNT EVERYTHING ASK THE MISSIS :tongue2:

pace and running ability ,comes with work ,correct me if im wrong .and with enough work what they lack in pace they soon learn to make up for it with brains ,if you dont know this then you must be one of the hundred .

like i said ,it comes down to how mutch you get out and what game is about and how often you run each species ,every dog no matter what size will learn to cope if it has it in it ,just like every other thing in life .

I dont know wat you mean by one of the hundred???But i have been around lurchers for long enough to know that beddy/grey are not the ultimate allround lurcher but saying that they are an important cross towards producing the allround lurcher then again IMHO no first cross of any breed i would give the titel of all round lurcher.I get the impression you think i am knocking this cross far from it as i own a beddy hybred myself.

im not saying they are either ,im just writing what helps to make a allrounder ,and a beddyx can become one the same as any other breed ,its down to the dog,and the owner and the work it gets ,never mind how big or what x it is ..and your view on what a all rounder is . Edited by 2GOOD
