yeah the outer mag casing is plastic the inner pellet holder is machined metal alloy, the only problem i've had with mine is it did go through a stage of eating the o ring which is on the outside of the machined alloy, and i had a problem replacing it as AA will only take orders for gear over £15 and the ring is only pennies. The first time it went they sent me one for free so it might be worth contacting them and saying yours has gone, that way at least you will have a spare for free in the drawer. After that your local gun shop will have to add it to their list of parts they order from AA which is where i encountered a snag because if they ain't ordering anything off them you ain't gonna get it in a hurry, so just knock an email out to AA ( say that you just acquired the gun and it's gone and broke on ya) with the part number which is on their website and get the spare for free

o rings for the mags are easy to get in any shop that sell packs of o rings there is allway some to fit your mag and like you say they are only pennies

if somebody has broken your ring , it's your own fault for wearing those slippers barbie , do you wear those slippers in your combat barbie wendy house when you're having a tea party with the dolls .(private joke).
