steveS.Yorks 161
The problem with bone infections is it wont heal, usssually the skin/muscle heals over the top and then the infection from the bone comes through again, its a vet job really, once had problems myself with a bitch, took months to shift it. skycat 6,174
Metronidazole is an antibiotic for anaerobic bacterial infections: in other words, infections where the bacteria don't need oxygen to survive, unlike surface wound infections: often normal broad spectrum antibiotics don't work if the wound is closed over or there is internal infection. My vet has always presribed Metronidazole for bone infections.
Coyotehunter 689
Not to disrespect any of the other lads that have posted , but bone infections are a very serious condition, i nearly lost a very good hunter (horse) 2 years ago from a puncture wound in his leg, we used a direct line feed into the bone with a drug called Excenel (ceftiofur hydrochloride) this as well as a drug called Borgal (Sulfadoxine; Trimethoprim) injected IV , it was very touch and go, but he did pull through, so if i were you and couldn't get a hold of some hardcore drugs then i would give in and go to the vets
