Last Night's Shine

Recommended Posts

Well I took my 13 month old Bull x bitch out for her second trip on the lamp last night. Not a very windy night but with my shift in work gotta go when I can really and she needs the experience, so went out for a couple of hours to see whats about and hopefully get her a few runs. The first field the grass was very long and I was having trouble finding any rabbits so she had little chance of seeing them ,managed to have a run on one but it soon ran into the long grass and made good it's escape. The next couple of fields were empty but she managed one run in the third field and was very unlucky not to pick this bunny up, walked a few fields that were very overgrown so didn't let her run any as it's all about success in the early stages so I just let her watch in the beam to get her spotting better ,this was only her second time on the lamp .I managed to find a rabbit sitting reasonably out enough and in an area that was beter for her to get a fair run,she spotted it straight away and was soon up to it but as she got there another got up to the left that had been squatting low and I hadn't seen it so inexperience showed and she altered her course towards this bunny. There followed a fast and furious chase toward the fence but she managed to turn it back into the filed and was soon picking it up :yahoo: .Then for the retrieve .......................straight back no arsing around and live to hand as well ;):rocker: so she had broken her duck and put in a good retreive to boot .Was very impressed at her accelleration and turning she is also very determined when running I was told this would be the case with the bull blood .Anyway it's nice to see that the last twelve months of hard work has started to pay off as she has also caught a few rabbits in the cover during the day too :yahoo::yahoo:

The first of many I hope

Well done to the bitch sounds like she did well.

Thats definitely the best way to bring a first season dog on"SLOWLEY BUT SURLEY"its not easy but they should experience minimal failure.

Keep it going and good luck with her,she looks in great condition also mate. ;)
