Hi all

I just got my first digital camera. It is a Canon Sureshot A470, I am still learning to use it and trying to get to grips with Photobucket etc for resizing. I hope these come through ok! They were taken in my garden this morning. One is of a frosted web in ivy and the others are of a shrub with berries which is frequented by lots of small birds.

Finger crossed these come through!

Thanks Kay. At the minute all I have managed to do is point and shoot! I find it hard to make head or tail of instruction booklets and would much rather showed me in person. I must try again and look for supermacro.

This is the supermacro button

Then find something to practice on, i have used coins in this case & a angle table lamp

partyly depress the shutter button untill you see a big magnified oblong come into the main screen like the pic above , then while keeping your finger on the partly depresed shutter button slightly move the camera back and forth untill the focus is what you think is right once you get it in focus press the shutter button down

What the end result looks like

Just practice on anything & everything , one tip though, for taking shots in this mode you need to be very close to the subject ,

Brilliant Kay! I'll try that and get some pics up to show my progress. Cheers!

Its how i got to grips with the focus , just using something like a pile of coins , it just means your ready & know how to use this setting when all the tiny buds come out in the spring

You will get some cracking frosty leaves on this mode as well if its a bright day

Theres a nack to using macro. I would say these pictures are better than the macro on those cameras you have. I do have quite a collection of cameras.

Yet these pictures are taken with a mobile phone......... You couldnt get any better. Tryed with everything.. Its all lighting and positioning...

Not a bad start mate..and Kay your showing off now :tongue2:

Sometimes its easier to look at diagrams than get to grips with the instruction booklet which usually only tell you what the different symbols on the dial on the camera mean

FAO Kay

Hi Kay. Iv'e been trying over the last few days but I can't get mine to magnify in the centre of the picture like yours does on the coin pic. I still see the green square on mine? What are the numbers along the side of the screen meaning, does it matter what they are?

Thanks
