i went out earlier but it was to foggy to get any decent pics, but when i went to the pond thats normaly got the dozon regulars on it i found what i think are fox footprints on the pond as its frozen over & snowed on top of it

 

theres splatters off blood in the snow & no goose , so i assume a fox has taken advantage of the fact the lakes frozen & had it

 

do you think there fox prints or a dogs , i found no feathers just prints & blood

 

 

this i think is a bird print , it was on the bank of the pond

I have no idea how foxes work but i know one of you will tell me if its a fox or a dog print

pretty safe bet its a fox kay anything from the cat family will have retractable claws and that hasnt

Looks like the fox was chasing the wildfowl around on the ice, in the second pic it looks like a Moorhen or Coot was taken judging by the footprints

well 2 of the coots have frozen to death i spotted then earlier , theres just no way of getting any food to them the only bit of water was in the middle & they just wouldnt come across the ice , nature is beautifull but cruel sometimes

The remaining birds on there just wouldnt leave the small hole that was left open , all sat round it i suppose thinking there body heat will stop it from totaly freezing over

 

i chucked loads out on tuesday but the holes in the middle & i just cant get it right over

 

i will see if the father in laws got a catapault i never thought of that, i hope it starts to thaw out over the next few days

I dont think they will starve, they will just fly off somewere else to feed, the only time to worry is when the birds are trapped in the ice by their feet
