iv just made 3x 1 litre bottles of sloe gin. i read that you have to leave them for at least 3 months, could i drink one sooner or would it not be right untill then? cheers.

Yep you can drink it sooner but the blend would'nt be as good, more like drinking straight gin with a few berries in, end of January should be ok if you wanted it for beaters day, best to save the other two for next year (you'll taste the difference)

Don't make sloe gin but make damson gin & blackberry whisky. Usually leave them in the jar brewing for about 8 weeks then strain & bottle. You can drink it straight away but the longer you leave it the better it tastes. If you want you can de-stone the gin soaked damsons & stir them into melted chocolate to make you own boozy choc bars :thumbs:

got told damson gin was the biz last nite, also when you strain the fruit out

put the fruit into a jug and pour a bottle of cider over it and drain that , top drink

I'm just finishing some 2 year old sloe Gin, and my god it is sooo worth saving! I had some at one year which was nice, but two is an amazing difference... it seems to loose its cough medicine likeness and gains a port like finish.

I'd never touch my sloe gin under one year old... its a bit like a savings investment
