JohnGalway 1,043
Hi folks, This is something I've been thinking about for a good while now. I've shot a few foxes who had great pelts and I've regretted not being able to keep them. But, I'd like to be able to do the job myself, and most importantly to a good standard! Say for the purpose of a rug, wall hanging or such, got no intention of making any hats, yet! Does anyone have any good leads for me please? ATB, John

gonetoearth 5,144
snowdonia taxidermy supplies used to sell the full tanning kit, if you good at skinning your half way there the more flesh and fat you leave on the skin the more you have to scrape off i used to have a plank cut like a small ironing board to pull the pelts over inside out. then had a fleshing knife to remove all the fat , the kit from snodonia just went straight on the pelts think the curing time was 4 weeks , with good results
Guest AngelicAcid
Me dad used to do it a long time ago, and sell the pelts to ireland i think.

JohnGalway 1,043
Sending the wrong text to the wrong person, typing the wrong links in the wrong places, bloody technology was supposed to make our lives easier not more complicated Got one step closer tonight, just ordered "Leder utility tanning kit" from a crowd in Australia. Around $45 to buy then $25 to ship. Another site wanted $88 to ship, chancers.
