My Nell @ 4.5 month

Recommended Posts

I am not sure how to put photo's so hope this works.

On another post talking about how young to start ratting with a pup. Last week Nell kill this 3/4 grown rat. It nearly got away as I had my 2 wee sons with me who have never seen a rat until it was running around their feet. It was at night and I forgot the battery for my light force lamp so just had a wee torch. I was going to shoot the rat but this didn't work out due the circumstances. As the rat almost out ran us over the field, me shouting at my son not to let it get away, my 8 year old run with the pup on a lead, the pup screeming its head of straining on the lead to get at the rat, me afraid that it was to young the drama was well set. I shouted at my 8 year old to let the pup go as I was sure it was going to out run us. My middle son (12) out ran me too and caught up on the rat. He just put his foot on it (teeth end) just as the pup crab it and snached it out of his grip. My worry was in vain as the pup killed it for sure. Still thing she was to young but she was as keen as mustard and screeming to get at it. I am trying to catch mice in the barn for her but so far none. Anyway here are 2 pictures of the pup. She is a Patterdale Parson Jack Russel, not that I really care what she is as long as she does the job.

The photo with the rat was stage after she killed it as a camera was the last thing I was thinking of at the time.post-38242-126021625696_thumb.jpg

Playing with her best toy - a fox tail take from a large fellow who tried to kill my 8 yr old bantams.
