a day out with the ferrets

we went out for a few hours on sunday, with my dad, grandad, uncle my brother and some of my grandads friends

we took our two dogs poppy (whippetx) and lily (plummer terrier), and i almost forgot our four ferrets, whisper (polecat) gabby (polecat) shadow (polecat X silver) polly (albino X silver) named after my grandad because he dont like albinos.

 

We long netted a section of a hedge and put purse on the well used holes and the ones that were out in the field we sat and waited for about half an hour but no rabbits bolted so we got the locater out and scanned the hedge we found both the jills at two foot we dug down and pulled a rabbit out after filling in the holes the ferrets wondered of so we went and waited again after about 5 minutes another rabbit bolted and then another one followed we waited again but nothing bolted so we picked the ferrets up and packed away.

 

We set off to find another warren and found one on the next hedge we put the ferrets down and got a few.

 

After we finished that warren we went for lunch.

 

after we had finished all of us set of to do some small warrens walking up the hedge rows lily was marking holes so we put the purse nets down and got a rabbits out of the holes. we kept on ferreting the small warrens untill it got dark. we got 10 rabbits all together not the most rabbits weve had but we enjoyed our selves.

its weird because the firemens jackets arnt actualy waterproof
