Barking

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have an 8 1/2 month pup which I bred (Dam: Bedlington Whippet Sire: Collie Greyhound) mum I own and can not fault her as a working dog for my needs and never makes a sound when running well not usually!! Dad is silent as a mouse. I have started taking this pup out for walks during the day and he has caught a few bunnies that have broken cover, the problem is he is a loud mouth and tends to bark alot when playing and when watching another dog on the lamp. Any tips on how to get him out of this habit before he is ready to work??

Thanks

take him on his own when he is ready to run them he will be frustrated when watching.stop it before it sticks,a friend of mines dog done it when watching as a pup and now at 2 it still does it if he goes lamping and other dogs chasing it yaps and barks, its no good doing it coz all the bunnies run away

thanks for the replies i have stopped taking him out to any places i think might hold bunnies, if he chases during the day he is starting to yap after them. In every other way I cant fault him very responsive and quick to learn just can't wait to see how he goes when he is mature (lets hope it's minus the voice).
