cúagusgiorraí 57
years ago they were very popular cross over here in Ireland. Them and the deerhound hybrids. Nowadays it seems the saluki hybrids are the most popular. the Irish terrier crosses were meant to be good. I havent ever seen or worked with any though Quote Link to post
poacher3161 1,766
Theirs a lad called gary farmer who is well known in the non ped whippet racing scene who bred this cross about 4 year ago i saw the pups at a race meet were he had them for sale and they looked cracking pups with plenty of leg and a brocken red couloured coat i often wonderd how they turned out as i was tempted to have one myself.IMHO i think this cross has got a lot to offer going on one a lad had up this way about 15 years ago though that was an ireish terrier x whippet/grey atb dell Quote Link to post

IMHO i think they are a better prospect than a bedlington due to them being taller.I have a coursing dvd were there is a dog thats a mixture of saluki deerhound and ireish terrier and the owner claiming it had no greyhound in it and the dog had killed two hares that day [pre ban]atb dell Quote Link to post
furdy 0
I had a three quarter cross in the late eighties through the early nineties. He stood around 26 tts and was quite sturdy. From a work point of view he wasn't that useful on the bunnies, but to be fair I wasnt really that interested. On the deer he was the best dog I've had. He had a knack with them and would stay on all day. He would work ahead of a vehicle with no trouble and was absolutely fearless. The downside. He would run through anything. hedges, wire, ditches. Often resulting in a few nasty wounds. He never did learn any fear. And he was a complete arse with other dogs. Not always looking for a fight, but at the slightest provocation he'd be in there. He was a big bounding dog. A stayer rather than a sprinter and I've seen him run roe down over three or four fields. He was quite happy on the bigger fellas too. I used to live in the new forest and we had some big herds down there. Quote Link to post
