Go to your local farmers store like HARBRO etc & get ultra violet spray for the feet of hoofed animals but it is great on dogs. Its a sanitizing cleaner & has worked wonders for me & i use it on cuts etc over the body too. It is a purple spray so dont let the dog in the house or jump up on you once done.

iodine everyday will work wonders cleans all the crap out and prevents infection.

one thing to keep in mind about using antiseptics deveryday is that as the new skin tissue starts to form it is a lot more fragile and sensitive than established tissue. when dealing with cuts i normally use a solution of peroxide and betadine ( iodine ) in a syringe (not injected for obvious reasons) and squirt the solution into the wound, the peroxide is very good for deep cleaning and will fizz foreign objects out of the wound. i repeat this for the first couple of days and then after that i use a salt and water solution. antiseptics will to a certain extent destroy new tissue and prolong the healing process. Aluspray is a good product for sealing wounds , sheep farmers etc use it quite a lot.

again this is only my opinion and not intended to contridict any other members

Very good advice there: but you say that the dog has cut its pad, then say 'between

the toes': do you mean the web between the toes is split? That can be quite a different type of wound to a split pad.

Depending on how badly it is split: only a tiny bit or over a centimetre into the web, it will heal but fcan take a long time if its long. The edge of the web contains a strip of very strong gristly stuff which takes the brunt of running and crashing into things. Once that gristle strip has been cut it can take quite a long time to heal properly.

Don't let the dog run free until its completely healed: wash with salt water every day but don't use antiseptic once your'e past the first couple of days: that can slow down healing as has already been said.
