hello lads n lasses got a big decission to make my 2 n a half year old dog has just pulled its fourth toe nail in 2 seasons, the only injuries he seams to take, leaving me idol most of last season and who knows how much of this season. he is a big strong suluki/grey x collie/grey who i have had since 6month old, a joy to work with and be around in general with his very placid household nature and reserved personallity untill you open the gate of any feild. As we all do i have became very attatched to him but need a dog that is working rather than recovering i have a 4month old dog aswell which will hopefully be on the end of this or start of next seasson, thus dont know what to do get rid of a kracker dog but who is looking to be prone to feet problems or keephim and sit off most of the seasson and hope not to be doing the same next seasson.

thanks tbear

what you going to get next then mate a robodog? made out of metal? aint trying to be a dick mate but accidents happen, watch the ground your running watch how hard the ground is, get another dog or however many you need if your going to work dogs hard then youll have to put up with this even watchin where and when you run your dog accidents still happen youll never avoid it unless you give up lurchers and take up shooting, and is it the same toe he keeps knocking up? if it is get the toe cut off and no doubt your problem wont be there.

grant it aint the toe popping or dislocating its the nail coming off.

My whippet bitch did her toe nail on sunday morning, it happens and it's shite when it does. You just have to live with it and sit in on the windy nights if you havn't another dog to run like me :wallbash:

Thats why i'm taking a litter off her in the spring to keep a couple of pups back to bring on, at least i'll have another to run next season if one knocks itself up. I'm not into buying adult dogs to run whilst a dog is recovering it's not fair on the dog. plus what are you buying??? no one gets rid of a good dog at this time of year do they???
